Eddie Stobart, Charity Day
On Friday the 1st July, we saw the first fund raising day held at the Glasshouse in aid of Eddie Stobart’s 2016 chosen charity, When You Wish Upon a Star.
Eddie Stobart welcomed four children and their families as VIP guests to join charity patrons and staff from all of the surrounding Eddie Stobart sites.
A day filled with joy and laughter, Joining the special guests and employees were Batman, Spiderman, Elsa and Anna from Frozen, and Steady Eddie, Gladiators’ Saracen, Coronation Street's Wendy Peters and of course, our very own Wish Bear and Wish Fairy.
The kids were treated to a disco, a wonderful show by the princesses and a magic show from the charity’s magician, and all day there were cakes for sale and the lovely ladies from Rugby Truckstop manned the barbecue, with all the proceeds from those, and the non-uniform day, going to the charity.
Steve Ashley, was locked in the stocks and had wet sponges (and full buckets of water) thrown at him, and there was a huge raffle drawn by the kids which included prizes such as an X-Box One and an iPad Air.
Throughout the week employees all over the country bid on a signed England rugby shirt, which eventually went for £500, and in one of the highlights of the day, Tom Whawell dressed as a fairy, receiving a very generous donatation of a whopping £1,000!
The whole day was a runaway success, with all of the kids and their families saying that they’d had a great time.
Thank you Eddie Stobarts for raising an amazing £5,683.79 for When You Wish Upon a Star.
